Show off your house ducks!

For those of you who have ducky diapers (mine or anyone else's) is there a need for a diaper tailoring/repair service? It's been mentioned to me a few times over the past year or so but for now with my limited space I haven't put much thought into it. Depending on the damage it may be more economical to just replace an old diaper, but for little things like replacing a stretched out strap or worn out velcro, or even adjusting the straps for a new ducky, would that be something any of you would want?
My biggest concern with that is ducky illness, but if contamination could be solved with good abiding practices would anyone want a tailoring/repair service?

Hmmmm. Tempting, but to be honest your diapers are so sturdy I've never had that issue! The only problem I've had is when I didn't take proper measurements and the fit wasn't perfect, resulting in some unfortunate poop loss. I did want to ask you though, what do you recommend for washing? These things take FOREVER to dry, and it takes a ton of elbow grease to get rid of poop that gets in the cracks of the ruched cup lip!

Most vets will do it for pretty cheap, we take ours to get it done once a month or so, it's only $15 a birb. And they'll be happy to show you how to do it, as well! Mine's cool, they got a beveling machine that rounds off claws super fast. It's awesome. p

That reminds me we have one of those beveling devices that we bought to try to use on the dogs. All three of them were terrified of it, and one would actually bite us when we tried to use it. It ended up somewhere in a box of 'pet stuff with cool advertising that doesn't work the same in reality.' I'll have to see if the hubby remembers where that box is so I can get it out and try it on the peeps!

I cannot believe how gorgeous Dandy is. I thought Daisy was super special for being so petite and gorgeous, but it appears lightning has struck twice for you! Pretty lil' girl. I'm so happy you finally got your baby. What's the story with the rouen? Where are you keeping her while you look for a new home?

Daisy was SOOO much smaller & petite than Dandy, I feel like a had one of your Calls compared to this fatty! Doesn't even have all her feathers yet, still sporting fluff all under her wings & tummy. Silly baby brain, too! :D
Thanks, babe. It is nice having a Muscovy again & she is so very pretty, too, I'll give her that. She has more attitude than Daisy ever did, though! Haha! This one, always quick with the Mohawk or the mouth all open side-eyeballing ya!

Dahlia is in Daisy's old house & she gets daily lovin' too. :) She is so tiny & hollow feeling after picking up Dandy! They switch out who gets bathtub time
& wandering time because Dandy is a heavy & nippy one to leave around Dahlia for too long, unfortunately. Dandy just wants to be near me, in her "bed" bin & that's about it...or eating. Definitely would rather be eating...such a fatty...

That's awesome to hear! I haven't really done anything to my own diapers because ChaCha has so many lol but I have had to replace the Velcro on the really old ones.

I wash mine with the cup inside out, that seems to help get the cup crevices, But I do have to stretch and hand rinse those first if they got poop in the cracks.
How do you du yours now? I will toss it in the dryer if I'm in a hurry, but I know over time the heat will destroy the stretch. It's usually very dry here so I just hang mine in the bathroom overnight or on the line in the sun during the day. But I can see that being problematic if they only have one diaper.

I should order one of your pretty diapers for when we go out in public. I'm just horrible at sewing anything more than a bit of stitches or hems & couldn't do anything fancy like your stuff! With Daisy being as little as she was I could get away with buying a pretty bra to make hers decent but this Monster Muscovy needs a bigger bra & it's not as easy to make hers pretty :D

Yeah...I really need to order more. Remember the special call duck ones? They're so small I kind of sort of lost one to the vacuum cleaner. Don't ask.

It was on the floor, I was vacuuming, my back hurt so I didn't wanna bend over to nab it and I thought "no way it'll get sucked up" ...It got sucked up.

As for the straps, I think I'd like the happy medium. Those bitty straps sadly just did not cut the mustard, although I liked it across the back 'cuz it didn't impeded their wings closing at all. But the ones under the tummy were too flimsy! I'm still happy to be your guinea pig though, for all call duckdom! :p

Ha! Did your vacuum survive?

Sounds good to me! The reports on the medium straps are pretty good so far, now all i need are call duck model pictures!

I am new to the duck thing we just got our first Pekin duckling on Saturday but we are do in love! She is 2-3 weeks old. (I think "she" anyway). We named her Vee. Any advice for starting out? We just ordered a coop online that I think will be good.
