Show off your house ducks!

Blow dryer nothin'...

Noises that don't bother my ducks:

12" cut off saw chopping wood.
Shop vac cleaning up poopy tarp.
Pounding nails with a hammer.
Trimming trees with a chain saw.
Mowing the lawn with a lawn tractor - they stay far enough away that they don't get mowed and I have my wife spotting for me just in case but they love the area that was just mowed because it has more insects exposed.
Discharging a gun in the backyard.
Flip a strip of fabric over their head though and panic ensues!:gig

Edit: Also, over the summer, my next door neighbor was filling gopher holes with propane gas then igniting them.  This causes a very loud explosion that actually shakes the ground.  The ducks barely noticed.
That is funny. Next duck is gonna be named Irony.

Ya know, I never thought about all that til yesterday... mine are the same... guns go off, cars backfire, building coops and nothing, nada, zip reaction... set a chick feeder down next to their pathway and complete and utter panic ensues...

LOL

Anything over head is major panic if a crow cries over head it's everyone run for cover because Crows=Hawks alot of times. Dogs barking means to stop and listen too.

Not much else bothers mine.

Watching mine, it is the way their vision works. Ducks have very good vision, but only a very narrow band of stereophonic vision and that is somewhat blurry like your peripheral vision. (That is why they look at everything sideways - super clear, but not stereophonic. So ducks can judge distance straight on but can't see very clearly, but they can see an eagle flying 1000 ft up and a chickadee flying 100 ft up, they just can't tell the difference

lol Very true, up until a couple years ago my ducks would hear the rooster give the warning call and all the chickens would run for cover, the ducks would be sitting or standing out in the open and just look up until 2 yr ago this month a Huge red tail came down and killed a bantam chicken right in front of them, They listen and heed now.

Oh my word. That was terrible. I'm glad that experience taught them to react.

I get it. So if their stereophonic vision is poor is it adequate for them while they are flying with their faces pointed straight? Same as my finch ducks. I cannot picture a bewrd flying and side facing everything. Do owls have excellent stereophonic vision?
