What breed are they? some time ago i read that laying hens aren't very predisposed to became broody...

Too cute hens! i love their colurs, really

i rescued 6 production hens a couple years ago.
One turned out to be a feather picker and after 6 weeks wearing the glesses was cured.

One went broody last summer and hatched 6 chicks.

2 have since died due to egg binding. Hot summer day when we all had watermelon.

All are sweet tempered girls, and they talk alot.

Sorry for your losses i lost two hens for EYP... yes reproductive issues are the only lack of these breeds of brown layers. In all the other sides i find them perfect
