Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

Sorry to hear that... hope she adjusts well... :hugs

I seriously want to raid your chicks... ;)

I honestly don't know how many chicks I have right now, somewhere around 70. It's been a good year. If you lived closer you could probably talk me out of a few.

Sold 5 mature birds this weekend. 3 hens. That should slow things down a little.

So, on Wednesday my Mom had a stroke. She's doing better, but will require some rehab. In my rush to get to her I pulled the tray out of the Incuview, filled it up with water and decided to let the chips fall where they may. My wife is doing wonderfully at managing my flock and my hatch (she's never touched an incubator before). Thank God I married a country girl.

Got these pics from her this morning.

Glad your mom is doing better! We'll keep her in our prayers.

:thumbsup on the wife running the hatch! My wife has become quite good at running the incubator, too. Country gals are the best!

Greatly appreciate the prayers. She's weak, but determined to go home. Zero doubt she'll get there. She's tough.

Four chicks from the weekend. The blue brassy may be the prettiest chick I've hatched yet. If there's any truth to the "eyeliner" thing, that's a pullet. It looks painted on.

If I lived closer, I would certainly try, lol... :D

Been concentrating on hatching my Calls so far this year... I think I have you beat in the numbers of them... :gig

Stopped by and saw a buddy while I was out driving from one end of the state to the other. He hatches about 500 a week. That's not including ducks and quail. Can you imagine?

My goal was 100 this year, but the quality has been so good I may not need that many. I've hatched some really vigorous pretty chicks this year.

Definitely ! If the grown birds are half as pretty as those chicks you hit the jackpot!

This pen is a mother crossed back to her son. He was the only Blue Brassy cock I kept last year. I like him because he doesn't have the short, squatty look that OEGB tend to get.

He's not perfect by any means, but he's decent, and a great breeder (cue James Brown's "Sex Machine", lol). Hoping by crossing by to Mom I can fill in some gaps

.

Here's his dad and sister. They've not produced fertile eggs this year. My blue brassy's are a project. You can tell the younger birds hackle (and tail if you could see it) are an improvement over Dad's. Little steps.
