Hey guys, I know nobodys posted here in a while but I need to know if you guys think my hen is a mix. She looks like a Wheaten OEGB ...but she has blue and red earlobes.. I dont know if this is just a random thing or if somewhere down the line her parents crossed with something else..
I was wanting to get a roo for her and breed her but if shes not pure, I dont really want to do that..
Did you raise these from chicks? If so, did your hens have combs at about a month old? In my avatar we have seven out of eight with combs, one with a small tan comb. The others vary in color from red to salmon.
Help! We think we have seven out of eight roosters
If its the chicks in your avatar they look like males. A female BB Red will have a very dark eye stripe and the males will have a very light eye stripe. I assume they're BB Reds.
Thanks, some had dark eye stripes when they were born. Some of the combs came in later than others. Their tails look different too, some have a U shape with longer feathers at the end, while a few have a V shape like the definitive hen's tail.
I am in denial I think. I have searched and searched for photos of 1 month old old english bb bantams, can't find any. I think they are reds. But the females do have combs, right? How do I know fir certain if they are males or females? Is there a definite way to tell?
We can only keep 3, and some people on here say it is okay to keep several roosters. I dunno about that.
