Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

No, but they do love to hang out in the nesting boxes during the day. You can see Little Dove behind Oliver in one of the pictures hanging out in the middle nesting box. I have to roust them out of there several times during the day and tell them that it isn't the malt shop, get out! Could they possibly be damaging the feathers on the round openings? I have to say that I'm not seeing the splitting on any of the pullet's flight feathers and they are in and out of those boxes all day.Nor is the splitting hampering their flying abilities. After dealing with my lead feathered Buff Orpingtons for 2 years I'm having to get used to these birds being upwardly mobile.

WVduckchick, I absolutely LOVE the silver duckwings. I've been trying to find some eggs to hatch for a friend who lost her rooster this past fall and having absolutely no luck. I don't want to do shipped eggs and so far all I've been able to locate is a source for blacks. Your babies are beautiful!

It might not be the opening, but the insides of the boxes... the girls would be in the middle area and the boys would most likely walk around them inside and could be rubbing against the walls... that's what it looks like to me... it's only on the surface of their wings, yes?

Too bad you aren't closer... we're selling out of our Self Blue flock... :(

Yes, only on the outer flight feathers. You might have something there. They are in those boxes a lot with the three Buff O pullets and the two OEGB pullets from that hatch...that is when they aren't trying to grab a quicky with one of the mature hens behind the flock master's back. These boys were crowing before they were 4 months old and going after hens a week later. WHOW!

Another reason to get them out of the main coop and into their own pen.

Yep, those little guys mature fast... and go through a heck of an oats sowing phase...

What's funny is to watch one of them dive under the big Buff O rooster and through his legs and watch the Buff O jump about a foot straight up. He doesn't even have time to respond. He just twirls around scolding at that top of his lungs like he is saying "What was That!"

Well, Ravyn, ya know, Tennessee isn't THAT far from Missouri....nah, DH would never fall for it, LOL. Still, self blues....whow, what a temptation.

I was going to ask how far Tennessee is from Missouri and then I checked and Google maps will "actually" give the hours from one state to another! Neat! That's a bit of a drive. I've done 4.5 hours for eggs. Not quite as far as the distance between both or you.

Yeah, it's a bummer, especially when you figure in that we are in the central north eastern segment of Missouri. Everything is close, yet not.
