My OEGB:
400

Hi guys,
I'm a guy that has always pretty practical when it comes the animals I raise. My chickens must give me eggs or meat. Don't want any of them thar fancy pants birds. If I raise an animal, by god it better give something back.
Well.....This weekend the wife and I discovered a poultry and small animal auction between Killeen and Florence Texas “Iduma Bird & Small Animal Auction” http://idumasale.com/ . I went to this auction with the intent to just look, maybe get some equipment if they had something I needed and see how the auction worked. Then we saw the Old English Game Bantams. Oh-My-Gosh. I have never seen these birds before and we immediately fell in love with them. We had to have a pair. I have a little coop and run that I use for broody Mama’s that was empty, so what the heck. I started bidding. I got a 2 year old pair of silver duckwing. The cock is so funny, love his attitude and the hen is a sweetheart. Now I have plans to build a coop and large covered run for OEGB’s. I believe I may have found my hobby. Now I find myself studying the breed, I'm looking for clubs and breeders in the area, and I'm looking for information and tips on raising the little buggers.
Here's a picture of the pair. His tail is a little ratty because it got wet in the water can that was in their travel cage.

How can you get a fair idea of the age of OEGB. How often do they lay eggs. Is it the same as my standards. any info on these little guys would be appreciated.

Does anyone know if you can actually tell the gender of an OEGB as a chick from its eye line? I've heard some people say that if it has a line through its eye, it's a girl, and if there's no line, it's a boy. Well I have two little OEGBs I got from TSC and one has a line and one doesn't. So I was just wondering if you guys knew anything about that...

I am no expert, but I know you can with some colors. Do you know what color the chicks will be?
