Show off your Peas!

Gershwin got to meet the birds (and the goats) this weekend. :)

Wiley has an impressive train for a 2-year-old, the rest only have a few eye feathers here and there. They grow up so fast.

Muppet was the first to say hello.

Followed shortly, of course, by her main man, Hiccup.

Opal BS (since I have two, I'm calling them Starsky and Hutch, not sure which one is which), Wiley, Hiccup, and miss Muppet.

Clarice.

He even got kisses from Pig.

And some scruffy chickens came out to say hi, as well.

:)

Here is my first Peachick. Her name is Sweet Pea. We have chickens, ducks, geese, guineas, quail and turkeys so poultry is not new to me, just Peas. She was a rescue and I have had her just over 2 weeks. I am guessing that she is about 5-6 weeks old and actually a male, but we will see. Anyone have and guesses on whether Sweet is a male or female and what the color may end up being?

Someone must of hand fed her because she is a "finger biter", but I am trying to teach her not to do that. It does not hurt, but may be unpleasant when she gets older. Or do all peas do that?

She also likes to be on my shoulder or head, which also may be unpleasant when she gets older, lol.

She is sitting on the counter of my new hatchery that we a building on our farm. She has spent alot of time there with me as I am working on things.

Tile floor was nice a cool on her feet as it was hot in there and we still have to run electric to the hatchery for some fans.

Mom's seat is comfy!

Thank you for you help.

Congratulations
Do you have a photo of it the day you got it? i can tell around 3 to 4 weeks then many times the feathers change to where it looks iffy.
It is an India blue peafowl.

Hi Zaz, thank you for the welcome. I started at the beginning of this thread and have seen alot of your beautiful birds. So far I am at page 60, so I decided to skip to the newest pages and post my little Sweet Pea and get some opinions. This is the nicest little bird. It loves to see me coming.

I am going to say male.

Have you wormed him? real important to keep them on a worming schedule, never owned birds that could succumb to worms so fast as well as other things that different kinds of fowl and poultry can survive.
