I have never owned an RSL rooster, but I must admit that they look quite nice!
Good thinking, cmom. The way they are raised definitely affects their temperament. Next year I hope to get a cockerel and handle him often. I'd like to see how an Australorp roo's temperament turns out.I gave my neighbor a RSL cockerel and she just loves him. He is a rooster now and she holds him every day. I think a lot of their temperament come from how they are raised. All of my boys don't necessarily want to be held but they tolerate it. I do handle my birds because I do show some and want them to be easily handled at the poultry shows I enter them in.
If a hen, believe she would be darker than a regular sex link, and probably have at least a hint of speckles. Are you planning to breed them?
Good idea, I think incubating them yourself is better than leaving them with the hen when it comes to RSLs. Anyway, however the offspring turns out, I reckon it'll look pretty good as long as that gorgeous rooster's involvedwe are getting fertile eggs from her and want to give our try at incubating them. He breeds with all of his hensBut our RSL seems to be his favorite.

Yes - don't forget the pics! RSLs do go broody - but very very rarely, and even then they aren't very motherly. They are only 18 weeks so they aren't broody. Plus I dont think RSL's go broody. He is beautiful, isn't he? haha I love the green and white stands in his feathering. Guess we will find out later oni will be sure to post some pictures when and if we decide to hatch them
