Recipe for Heavy laying hens

25 Lb bag of Blue seal extra egg pellets
1 bag oyster shell

I take 2 cups of the pellets and add 1-2 tblspns of oyster shell and throw it in a blender and make a crumble mash until the whole bags done
(it takes about 15 to 20 min)

I feed this as a sole ration In the morning or at night (when they eat like they're starving to death) lol... and use the pellets (or what ever layer feed you use) by its self on the other feedings

Its made such a difference because when I had the oyster shell separately or just mixed in they didn't really touch it. now they go for the white flecks lol I havent had a soft egg since, not even the new layers

Yes Cynthia I was just gonna tell ya That Reba looks like my first one (rose) haha Omg once the start they don;'t stop, I switched over to RSL 5 years ago and love the quality I get They are so nice, curious, with tons of personality and Lay like crazy, I havent had many problems, In 5 years of keeping RSL I had one prolapse and I saved her, And a raccoon problem once (I fixed em good)

Wow they dont look much bigger than my girls! How old do they start laying at? I have noticed mine nestling down a lot more recently and a different pattern in how they arrange their bedding. And there has been A big increase in feathers around the coop from my RSLs. My BSLs are a week younger I think and i havent seen much difference in them .

Keep those pictures coming of your sex links..bet some of those babies that were pictured on this site earlier are getting big now! I got myself one little one a few weeks ago. She is lighter than my red girls now. Maybe she will lighten up, but she is a pretty color. I generally like the darker reds, but I have one that is lighter, and a sweetheart too..of course!
