I was in doubt to what breed chicks i just purchased, but after looking at the form i'm sure they are Red sex-links

What do you think.. Red sex-links or not ???

I am only a year into owning chickens, so please take this for what it's worth, but yours look like our girls at that age and ours are definitely Red Sex Links pullets.

It really depends on the temperatures. I have some almost 2 week old in the chick/grow-out coop right now. I recently put them in. I do have a heat lamp on them at night but turn it off during the day because it's in the 80's here during the day, I leave them in the coop for about a week so they get used to it and a night light on. Once they are pretty used to the coop it becomes a safe place for them and easier to get them in at night. They do have a fenced in area out side of the coop. I have it covered so no hawks can pick off the chicks when they are outside in their pen.

help please? I think my hen is a roo.. curled saddle feathers, larger brighter comb and wattles, long pointed hackle feathers, thicker legs.. Can anyone verify if she's a he or vice versa? The chicken under investigation is the darker one up front. His name is Rawr!

the 1st pic shows "saddle feathers" starting to curl (i think)
the 2nd shows the difference between "him" and sister cuddley buttcheeks (don't laugh, my kids named them)
the 3rd shows the other side of "his saddled feathers"
4th, comb & waddle larger and brighter then ms cuddley buttcheeks, hackle feathers pointed

In all of the different breedings they will all look similar no matter what you call them. Many carry similar genes such as silver, red, black which will produce similar colored chicks.
