help please? I think my hen is a roo.. curled saddle feathers, larger brighter comb and wattles, long pointed hackle feathers, thicker legs.. Can anyone verify if she's a he or vice versa? The chicken under investigation is the darker one up front. His name is Rawr!
hen...Cockerel would be mostly white. Probably is a dominant hen... :frow I have 8 golden sex links (red sex links) all hens. LOVE them.

It really depends on the temperatures. I have some almost 2 week old in the chick/grow-out coop right now. I recently put them in. I do have a heat lamp on them at night but turn it off during the day because it's in the 80's here during the day, I leave them in the coop for about a week so they get used to it and a night light on. Once they are pretty used to the coop it becomes a safe place for them and easier to get them in at night. They do have a fenced in area out side of the coop. I have it covered so no hawks can pick off the chicks when they are outside in their pen.

This is a previous hatch from some years ago.





thanks for explain. and i just wonder if the lamp at the night is turn off, just heat lamp, does it influence for the chicks..? because i think they are need a rest/sleep at night.
 
One of my flock of 5 red sex links jumps on my back everytime I bend over, her name is Reb, short for Rebel... named by my 10 yo son..I will get picks and post soon!
