show quality speckled sussex ??

400

Don't know if you can make them out but this cockerel has black spots on his feet.

No, it doesn't wash off and it doesn't seem to be fungus. Their legs look healthy other than the colour. I thought they were dirty at first but over time his feet just got darker.
I'm not sure if he came from a hatchery or not. He was hatched from stock obtained at a university---but I don't know what they were doing with the birds there---or where they originated. His sister has a bit of colour on her feet too.
I think I'll start a new thread---maybe it's not related to his breed.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Greenriverhen,
You might try asking on this BYC thread:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/840031/if-you-have-genetic-questions
Just so happens there are several noted genetic experts hanging out there right now. NYREDs,
Henk69, Sonoran Silkies, nicalandia, and others.
Best,
Karen

Anyone know of breeders who will actually reply to emails? Having a hard time finding someone to get chicks from.

Alot of times you have to call them or send mail to them. Email is not always 100% since Spam filters emails.

Then there are those that you know are receiving your emails and simply refuse to respond. In those cases, just look elsewhere.

What size are you looking for susan and where are you located? There may be some breeders close to you.

Looking for standard Speckled Sussex and I will be in North Carolina when I start this in the Spring.
Thanks

Try Walt Reichert in KY. He should be in Poultry Press newspaper and on the Net. Might also
contact the online ezine Exhibition Poultry , I think his shows wins were advertised there too.
Best,
Karen
