I think the black is more a very dark brown, if the sun would come out here pictures would be better, he is just 6 months old and is currently replacing some tail and rump feathers, that he lost or got picked out by the other roo's he was with. In the sun he looks more the Mahogany color with teal shimmering, I don't think this rooster was my original pick, because he is not as friendly as the other 1 I wanted to keep but, butchering day, had everyone way upset, because I had already picked out my Delaware roo, and then everyone was being goofy and my BF roo would not talk to me so I think I grabbed the wrong one........ of the 11 SS roosters I had, I only had 2, I thought worthy of keeping. this is the larger 1. the other was smaller, and his body type was not as wide. But personally I liked him better, though the chest color was the same as this boy. His legs are the white with some pinkish color, and the under color is correct. what about his comb? I had 6 that had a funky fat short comb, who looked rather gangly and tall with that all leg look. The others were basically like roo above, but some had tons of points on the combs, not many speckles in the hackle feathers, or they just plain looked a bit weird. can't really explain it. I do have a couple girls with lots of white feathers, snowflake is loaded with white, so maybe this roo will cancel some of it out in the spring babies.
I will try to get some wing feather pictures, but if I recall he has quite a few white feathers in there. Will see this morning. Ty Kim
