I am in and out this weekend. I am trying to get some chicken things done while I have my husband's assistenance.

I'll try to find a couple of more pics that we can try to evaulate the head and neck areas one more time.

Then I will have to go back out to the 100 degree heat and see if I can't help my other half with the chicken project

I found a few more pics for us to practice on . . . I will try to get them bigger!
I can't make them bigger without going back on the web and finding the original source again......

If I need to do that I will have to do it later....

Lisa, you might want to reconsider as my SS had leg color more like ABA description.

Are you messing with me Don ? ?
What are you hinting at ? ?

I don't have the ABA description, so enlighten me....
I know the APA calls for Shanks and Toes - - Pinkish white.

I just spent time this evening staring at combs.... Now legs ? ? ?
My favorite ss cockerel has a jacked up comb
barnie.gif
He comes over and talks to me through the fence.
If I go into the pen, he stares at me and then grabs the hem of my shorts until I pick the boy up.
He is 4 months old and acting like this.... AND his comb is ALL JACKED UP with a Thumb print

The ABA description states WHITE TINGED WITH RED, This is where you see some of the SS with the red leakage on the shanks and toes. All this should be taken under consideration when evaluating the SS.

I think you and I must have the same taste for breeds! I keep seeing you in all the threads that I frequent! I am only about halfway through this thread, but I wanted to make sure and watch the rest as it unfolds!

I have 8 speckled sussex that are right at 10 weeks old. I would love to post some pictures here and get comments and critiques. I have been focusing all my time on my Delawares (my primary breed), so the Speckled Sussex (my second breed) hasn't been given the attention that I need to give them! I did buy the 2010 SOP, but it is so hard to know what to do by just reading it. I'll try to get some good photos posted in the next day or two.

WAIT on the speckled sussex pictures.

At 10 weeks of age they are really too young to give a serious opinion.

Just enjoy their unique personalities at this point. They need to be pushing 5 months before serious feed back can be given.

Just like the delawares do a lot of color change before the juvie molt, so will the speckled sussex.
The only thing you could start evaluating at 10 weeks of age is the comb....

PLEASE, read the previous pages when you get a chance.
I am going to try to keep this thread focused on finding OR producing show quality speckled sussex.
I want EVERY page to contain information worthy of re-reading.
