He is gorgeous.
IMHO... no show experience here... he has too much cream colored leakage and the grey tips on his comb might knock him. Something seem not quite right about his eye and I can't zoom in well enough to tell what or IF it is.
Do you know if he is supposed to be English or American? This pic looks more American than English Orp body type... but I am here to learn as well, so please don't take my word for it!
But... the other competition might not be perfect either and why not try?!![]()
that is some frostbite, it should heal itselfThanks! I was wondering about the color on his comb, it happened over winter so hoping it will fade. He is pretty light and very dirty lol. I've seen a lot of different ones and so not sure if the exact standard. I need to read up on that more.
That's a good question. I have to ask the hatchery he came from to know for sure. I guess it never hurts to enter!
What type of show is it?
APA doesn't recognise lavender/self blue in orpingtons.
He could be entered in all other varieties class but IMO he wouldn't do well.
Lavenders are bad about sun fading, and always look better after a good molt. They are also prone to getting lighter each generation, which is why many folks keep black/split ones to breed back into their lines.
Also can't tell from the pic, but they should be really broad across the chest.
This was one of my big boys.

He's absolutely gorgeous but I think his coloring is too creamy for show quality. Still a damned good-looking bird though.
