Yep
Just because a bird is bred for eggs/meat doesn’t mean it’s not show quality it all depends on whether or not they match the description for breed characteristics in the APA standard of perfection
If you want show quality birds you have to buy from breeders that breed specifically to the standard and generally I’d recommend buying adults because then you already know what they look like while chicks are more of a gamble in whether or not there show quality
thank you! I bought some chicks from tractor supply, so they won't be show quality! but a lot of them are very close to the standard

Well, kind of but not really. Any bird that is in hatchery is not bred for show quality. To be able to tell for good show quality is to have the standards of perfection beside you and compare it to the photos of the parents and/or the bird you want. Usually breeders will state what their birds are breed for. Hatcheries mainly breed for egg production and not type.
hey I got a dominque from TSC and took her to the state fair and she got reserved champion! so hatcheries do SOMETIMES have showable birds lol!

Congrats! Sometimes the classes are small so there is a larger chance to be able to win. Hatcheries aren't known for their incredible quality but there are some decent birds that can pop up once and a while. I had a decent wyandotte a few years back that was a hatchery bird. Never shower her but she had a nice type.
