show us your "mutt" breeds:)

Yes that is a brabanter comb and I named him Lucifer because it looks like devil horns.Brabanters are small but he is large like a Wyandotte.I just gave him away Saturday just because I had too many roo's in his pen.I waited too long and the girls feather are kinda ragged.

I'm with you - he's such a chunky monkey! Does he even have a neck??? The beard thing makes him look like Groucho Marx - just give him a cigar...

This is Fluffy. He was a black australorp X EE. Very sweet guy, not too hard to catch, and never bothered a soul, except his brother Rocky in the springtime.

Ok, I want to play....let's see...

StandardHen-MixLeghornSilkie-Pep-1.jpg

This is Pepper. This hen is Standard size, or almost standard size. I hatched two of these mixes in 2007. Pepper's sister, Salt was bantam size but looked the same as pepper. Momma is a White Leghorn. Pepper is a beautiful little Mother, she is my Avitar with lots of little feet under her.

One of these, shown as young hens here. And the Father is this Silkie Roo. Mainly black with a brown collar.

Next, I bought this Roo. I am pretty sure he is a mix. I thought he was a Giant Blue Cochin, but now I think he may be Langshan and Cochin.

This Roo I raised as a chick in 2008

This young Roo has the same Black Silkie with the brown collar as a father and I am not sure who the mother is....one of three hens. Giant White Frizzle Cochin...the chicks do not always frizzle. Giant Blue Cochin, or Bantam Black Cochin. The chick was a large white colored chick when hatched so I kinda ruled out the Bantam. That would leave one of these two girls....

As Silver ages, he has a brown coloring in his collar and onto his back. He kinda makes me sad because my little one crowed for the first time the other day. Ok, who does he look more like, lol.

This is Chatter Box. This large chick appears at this time to be a hen. She is a Bantam, that is for sure. Yep, same Silkie Roo...lol She has dark skin, extra toes, and dad's top of head. Mom is a Self Blue d'Uccle I am pretty sure. One of these two girls.

or Belle

And yes, EE's or Easter Eggers are mix birds. They sell them in feed stores and in hatcheries as Ameraucana/Araucana or some form of that title. Bottom line, they are Easter Eggers. I have those in Coupe4 on my member page. Ok, the lesson I learned from this bird is that if they are a pretty color, then they are Roosters. I thought I had 8 hens, nope...they crowed. I have five now.

They will be 1 year old in late March.I've just got the other cockerals out of their pen so in about 3 weeks or so I'm going to set some egg's and see what they throw.
