I made mine swing out for easy cleaning of coop and nesting boxes. Installed sterlite containers in the nesting boxes for easy cleaning. In the pics they are turned upside down because the girls are a ways away from laying and I don't want them roosting in there for now.

I made mine out of 14" plastic flower pots stacked up together with birch perch and my wife's old sturdy drawers.

This is a two nest reversible roll-out nest box. I did this prototype months ago, but forgot to post it here.... So here it is....(the finished version will be PURDY!! And will have 6 nests on each side of the coop, 2 each level and 3 levels high)

My older 1+ yr old girls roost where they're supposed to. Roost bars are about a foot higher than the nesting boxes. Some of the newer pullets (about 2.5 months old) have taken to roosting on the edge of the nesting boxes, instead of the roost bars. Does hanging cloth along the front of the boxes help discourage roosting there?



could have done without this discover in the wee hours of dawn last week. Thought one of the girls had dragged in a piece of black plastic at first.
