Show us your nest boxes! Ingenous design post it here!

We built a fake wall in the coop and use three plastic bins. We have room for a second story if needed but so far they only lay in two of the three.

Did you build your roll out nest box
No I do not have roll out boxes. That was another chicken egg person showing me how he did his. I collect my eggs from the nesting boxes and then I incubate them for hatching and increasing my flock with new hens. jthornton was the person that made the post.

We recycled these wooden crates into nest boxes. They’re screwed together with a board on top and in middle for stability, and screwed to the wall. I lined each with cardboard as they have metal staples in and I didn’t want to risk the girls getting scratched on them while laying. Since photo taken I’ve added a little ladder up to the top layer. Thinking about curtains now, having seen some others photos, as I think there’s too much light near the door.

Ohhh...can I show off mine?

Even though we have a decent sized coop I wanted to save space so I built this design. Sliding nest boxes mounted under the poop tray.

They slide back to the wall so the girls can do their business in private...

And then slide out to the front for easy egg removal...

A side benefit is that the entire nest box assembly is easily removed. Turned out to be handy since we have months to go before any of ours will be laying. I have the nest boxes stored away in my shop.

What an exquisite piece of workmanship! Love this idea.

Lol This is my nest box XD
It works, and one of my hens is setting on eggs. We have chicks growing! What's funny is that even the rooster likes to sit on the eggs, and he's kind to them. Haha
((Not all the eggs in the picture were viable. We discarded the bad ones. And the cardboard box is just temporary. I've got a nice coop in the building process currently.))

My husband is not too sure about having chickens but he does for us anyway.
