She's the oldest. Hatched out on 6/1. The others are behind her with the littlest hatching 6/5. The parents both have combs and wattles too so I'm assuming they'll be really hard to sex by that.Middle chick looks male.

I know but dangggg I wanted a big fluffy Lav Orpington!!! lol I know. I have a ton of mixed EEs and such. I definitely don't discriminate against the color... I was just led to believe otherwise. But they will get love! They are already spoiled! They are very pretty. At least they will end up as beautiful chickens!!
Aw thanksThe left one is so pretty!!! The right is probably a male, but he’s handsome.

Oh okay, that’s coolAw thanksyup he's male , dad has blue skin so he's sex linked .
Well, I didn't do much research on them as chicks and I went to a breeder today to pick up 3 pullets because she "swears by her sexing technique" *insert eyeroll* But I'm pretty sure she sold me some crosses... they are darker than the light grey that LOs are as babies... and their faces are golden... so I'm wondering if they are BO and LO mixes... aww hell.. I'm sad

Oh they are cute! Don’t be upset ! Hey! I’m back again! I got interrupted by one of my three children- either my 23 year old, 22 year old, or my 11 year old dog for something or other. It also could have been when the 9 chicks upset the waterer in the brooder. They were having flying competition number nine million and ninety-nine for the day. I don’t like to complain too much about the chicks because that was their first time to spill it actually. I love those baby birds so much. I have amazed myself even. I have always loved animals of all types and loved bird watching but didn’t ever handle any. My mother grew up on a farm in PA but she said it was hard for them to have a great deal too many birds sometimes because of the severe cold but they had them when they could. She grew up in the depression era of WWll. My Dad did too except in MS where I live and he is not a chicken eater. He did eat eggs sometimes but not often. I grew up in the city where no chickens of any kind were allowed so that explains that. My husband on the other hand grew up living with a dad who caught chickens for a chicken company for a living for 50 years and he would bring them home live for his wife to have for a few days for eggs or whatever and then she would kill them herself and pluck them and cook them up for her seven kids after her day job when ready. However, my husband had not been around raising actual chicks. Now that I have given you my life’s story and my husband’s I don’t know why- but my Orpingtons are Lavender Black splits and mine are seeming to be white on the breast and chest areas with maybe a few white tips on the very end of the tail feathers possibly. They also have a smattering of white around their eyes. Each one of the three has a different amount of white or lavender is color other than black around the eyes etc if not you could not see them in the dark. They are pure black like a crow or Raven. Very glossy birds. Compared to my other 6 birds they lost their down last and got their feathers all in the slowest. I call them the watch dogs or the look outs of the group of nine. They are sweet and easy to handle but nosy and will fly at you in a heartbeat. I have one in particular who loves to try to always be the closest one to me when I am sitting in my recliner watching TV next to the brooder pen. She watches me and whatever program I am watching. Very smart birds. They will be the birds who follow me around outside to see what I am doing. I thought they would be the ones who ate the most according to my research but they don’t eat more than my Creme Legbars yet. Those things eat like a pack of hyenas at a dead wildebeest convention. I have one of those that stays at the feeder. She is a good four ounces heavier I bet more than the Orpingtons. At least. They all are the same age and when I got them they all pretty much looked just alike as far as size except I had one Legbars that was visibly smaller but not less healthy in anyway. I was blessed for this being my first time ever to buy chicks. I got three of each breed I bought for a total of nine from Meyer Hatchery in Ohio. I’m sure you experienced Chicken Owners know them well. Garrett took great care of me when I placed my order and on each call I have made there which has been three or four calls for questions and to order a few supplies. The pandemic was a nightmare trying to get any chicks in April or May but I finagled some. Good luck with your chicks. They are really pretty I thought they were white ducks at first.
