Show Your Silkie!

LOL Here's evidence that Silkies and standards get along really well.

My little mutt. Dad is Phoenix (certianly not one purpose..he's a potent roo!) and mom is a Silkie. The funny thing is my Silkies have been separated from the flock for about 4 weeks, so that sneaky devil must have gotten her just before I separated them. This little cutie will definitely be an interesting bird. Has feathered legs, funky feet, and is already feathering out like a Silkie, but with Phoenix coloring...

Oh gosh, I'm going to have to get a few of those for sure.....

Oh and I saw the FRIZZEL variety or breed, Heavens those are CUTE!

I figure this is the thread to ask! I have two questions about Silkies, as I just got a new baby yesterday

How on earth do you tell between male and female? I'm not trying to guess now (it's only 3 weeks), but in looking at these pictures, I can't even tell on a full grown bird! I'm probably just daft though

Second, is there such a thing as a frizzle Silkie?? I didn't think there was, but I'm almost positive the woman said s/he was a frizzle. I figured maybe she meant one of the other chicks that s/he was in with, but I honestly haven't a clue. Some of the feathers coming in look frizzle-ish, but in all actuality, could just be a regular ole Silkie thing. I have no experience here!

Oh, I lied. I have one more question. My silkie has a white body, but somewhat of a buff-ish head. Is this normal? Will she be white or some sort of mix? She's already starting to feather out and those feathers are definitely white.

Here are some pics just because she's so darn cute and this is really a picture thread. Sorry they aren't great--didn't want to bother her too much after the stress of the drive home and meeting her new sisters.

Lots of great birds on here

Jaynie, that buff boy is gorgeous. I sure wish some of my buff eggs had hatched. Makes me sad to think of it. I will have to get some from you later on!! Don't forget to hold me out a SF roo when you get some later on. Both of mine are girls. I do think that the sizzle is going to be a boy. He is heavy compared to the other silkie and just has more attitude. I could be wrong though, but that is what it looks like. The three babies in the house are cute but of course I have no clue as to the sex. The silkie (that is not a sizzle) is the one with the nice head. I call it topper, but I think it is a girl. Will have to wait and see. I just hope they are not all roos. Wouldn't that just be my luck. I might have to drive out there and get me some girls dang it.

Updated pics of my silkies. These were taken a week or so ago, and the chicks are now almost 7 weeks old now.
