Showed up at my Mom's.....

After looking into this a lot, I think it is a Grey American Game Hen not a Phoenix. I have seen many pics of them that look just like mine. I still have not seen a pic of a Phoenix that comes close. Thanks for all the help and info while trying to determine what breed my rescue is. I did find out from the local neighbors that they are not missing any chickens. Guess she will be living with us now

She is very docile and sweet. She lets me pick her up and hold her without any fuss.

We did have a scare with her though. When transferring her to the temp coop she escaped when the dog went after her. Dog was stopped and did not get her but then the cat went after her and she flew off into the woods. We looked for her for hours. Could not find her and my son was upset that his chicken he named Pat was gone......

Yesterday when we went to run some errands there she was scratching in my yard. I quickly got some food, and enticed her. Was not sure if she was still spooked. Picked her up and put her in the temp coop and she walked around it in a circle then went on the roost and went to sleep. I Think she likes her new home......Hope she does lol

my pheonix hen when she was a pullet. I say it looks pheonix to me too, but can you get a better pic of it? legs, comb and tail?

The comb, legs and tail isn't going to help any.
Pheonix and American Game Single Comb.
Pheonix and some lines of American Game both have Black/Blue Slate legs.
Pheonix and American Game (A.G. if bread poorly) can have a "whip" tail. (the OP's hen has a nice spread on the tail)

Can I raise a few turkeys in a seperate building on my property without chickens?

Do turkeys have to stay a certain distance away from chickens, since they have blackhead?

Poultry7, you might want to ask that question in it's own thread, probably under the category of "Managing Your Flock". It will get it's own attention there.

Good to meet you,
Jenny

Looks like a bantam American Game (she would have gray legs)
http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/Games/AmerGameBantams/BRKAmerGameBty.html. or
A Silver Duckwing Bantam Old English Game (she would have white legs)

The Largefowl American Game just had me confused. By looking at the pictures her body shape, and tail didn't seem to match up. Plus, she seemed closer to 1.5 pounds then 3. If she is around 3 pounds then I think her body shape seems a bit off for an American Game large fowl, but it could just be the picture, or her breeding.

I will try and get some better pics tonight. I do appreciate everyone's input and help on this. She does look like some of the pics of Phoenix. I very well could be wrong since I know little about Game breeds, better yet I would put money on me being incorrect

hahaha She may just be a "Game Mutt" but that is ok too.

Also, I am pretty sure she is over 1.5 lbs...
