Showgirl thread- for posting pictures and discussing breed!

Question about showgirls. I think I have a hen. I originally bought 15 eggs, but only one of them hatched. I was reading that quality goes down if you breed to another showgirl, so what is the best to breed too?

Although blues, blacks, and splash can be bred together due to the andalusian blue gene. All other colors should only be bred to themselves.

Eggs are kinda like cooking. A watched pot never boils. Remember, the more you handle them the more you raise the risk of spreading bacteria. Wash your hands before candling- and I usually wait until day 6 or 8 to candle. When it comes to lockdown,.. keep the bator closed! You will be fine.

Okay, I have been sucked in. I ended up with a surprise hatch of 2 showgirls... one male and one female. I really didn't like them at first, now it has been a few weeks and I am addicted. I just love their little naked necks. I grab my babies and they snuggle right up. (don't tell hubby, but I just love kissing those naked little necks...)
