Showing a chicken?

I'm thinking about getting another chicken. But I think I want to show it. What breeds do y'all recommend are best for showing?

Bantams are easier to handle.

Really the best thing to do is pick a breed you really like, go to a show, find a breeder that works with that breed, and hopefully buy a starting pair or trio from them. You can't just go out and buy any old chicken; it has to be well bred to the standard. Otherwise it's never going to do well in shows.

And someone isn't going to sell one of their best show birds to you, since they will be keeping their best birds for themselves to breed and show. So, if you really want to show, you need to buy some good stock and then breed.

Go with a bantam breed like Cochins or D'Uccles.
