Showing question about etiquette

I have no problem with people photographing my birds from outside the cage.

If you want to open the door, or take a photo outside the cage, you really need to ask.

I see no problem with taking pics of the birds inside the cages.. (i would never ever open up a cage to take a pic though... unless the owner was right there and said i could do it...)

The birds are at a SHOW for people to see and admire them...
IMO..its no different than folks going to a zoo and snapping pics...

If you dont want your birds pictures taken..then keep them at home...not at a public bird show.

Just my opinion..

I dont know personally how comfortable I would be with some stranger taking pictures of my birds. I think I would be more ok with it if I knew that the pictures weren't going to be used falsely. I guess you would just have to ask me I guess. I don't know what I would do. I personally have taken a few pics just for me of winning birds that I just keep to compare to mine. I NEVER EVER use the photos to sell my eggs. And most of the time I know the owner!

If someone is going to use the photo of someone else's bird, they will do it, whether they take the photo themselves or copy it from off the internet.

99.9% or more of the people attending a poultry show are honest. THey are there to have fun, to compete, to look at and maybe purchase birds, because their father/mother/sister/brother/child/friend is showing. It is an exhibition; the birds are there to be seen.

I have a hard enough time getting decent photos of my own birds even out of their cage, much less inside closed cages.

Then they should put a little sign on that cage, do not photo even thou it is on public display setting. Its Ok to not want them photod,
I asked permission at the last show to photo..Kind of easy since 250 birds belonged to freinds of mine, so photoed and shared in here LOL. They loved it. after about the 20th bird thou I kind of got tired of it...

Same at next show, pre asked the east coast champions if I could do a little story for BYC , they said SURE.... Those are salt of the earth people fun to be with. nothing for them to be insecure about. You would all really like these people, they put on chicken BBQs and fun activities for kids and educational programs. once a month.

I find it an honor to see someone taking a picture of my bird. And I have, myself, taken pictures of other people's birds. A true breeder/showman, in my opinion, is always on the lookout for the "perfect" bird or picture of the perfect bird. Ever hear the saying " a picture is worth a thousand words"? Have you ever tried to verbally explain the perfect bird that you saw at a show to another person? I guess if you aren't used to winning, seeing someone take a picture of your birds may be a new experience...Generally people don't want a picture of the second place bird....JMO

See, I wont be posting the pictures of the birds I take anywhere, just uploading them to my computer for my personal use, to remember that show, etc. The only pictures I would post would be of my birds at the show.
