Showing questions

I would like to raise a few pullets to show but I don't know what breed to get. I'm thinking a couple of Buff Orpingtons. So my questions are...

1. Do you feed "show" fowl anything special?
2. Do you have to bathe show fowl?
3. Can show fowl live with the rest of my flock?

1. I feed my show birds a higher protein, higher oil diet. The feed also has animal fats which really brings out the shine in the feathers. However, I raise games, so I wouldn't raise the protein too much on your Orps.

2. My black birds... only if they're really really muddy. My white birds... always.

3. They can, but if the other birds pick on them their condition could suffer.
