Shrink Bags

I just got an order of bags for turkeys from Cornerstone Farm. I really liked the bags when I did my chickens this spring so I thought I would try their turkey bags. Here is a picture of my chickens in the shrink bags.

Those look NICE! I'm just too cheap and I'm very 'small scale' anyway....A wise fellow told me recently that a big ole freezer bag with a chicken in it, dipped in water to shove air out, sealed and frozen will probably last as long as I'll need. If I could've gone in person to look at some, I'm sure I'd have talked myself into it though..and not a bad idea. He also reminded me that freezer burn (hopefully on very rare occasion) is not a disease or anything. Just cook it a lil longer or enjoy some chicken jerky, lol, in the mean time. I may get around to getting some one of these days....

I'm sure they are, but I got all 9 of my latest full grown chickens for free, gave em some of the scratch and scraps and I'd say including the gas to get them, those bags would double my cost's. Got some recipes for Coq au Vin and even helped the little old rooster get in the truck with his little walker and all. LOL Squirrels is good eatin too, and deer and groundhog and What else was that we can eat free, Jethro?

Thank you soooo much for this info...I have been searching for these...this makes it so much easier. I love their pics and advice....

I just received 1000 10x16 bags from Flavorseal (www.flavorseal.com) for $200+ dollars. The lady told me that in no way did you have to pierce the bag to allow the air to escape, which she said was the beauty of this bag design.

I haven't tried any and probably won't until next year. The 1000 lot was the smallest I could get and it was a add-on to the tail end of a larger run.
