Shrubs for nesting

Hello everybody. I have a female duck that refuses to nest in my yard. Every year she takes up residence with one of my neighbors (who fortunately don't mind). She seems to prefer to nest under bushes and shrubbery but I don't have any in my yard. My goal this year is to create an area in my yard that she finds "nestable". Can anyone suggest appropriate groundcover and shrubbery that she might find attractive? (Yes, she has an appropriate predator proof pen for night, but she's hanging at the neighbors' during the day)

Maybe an Evergreen, that way she has cover in early spring.
