Mine did fine in their breeding pen. I think it was about 12 x 15 feet or so. They weren't underfoot, but they didn't mind me so long as I wasn't trying to catch one. Feeding, watering, and gathering eggs didn't phase them in the slightest, they just moved out of my way. Fresh water and hen scratch would get them right up to me and they would drink as I filled their water up. Didn't seem to mind being in close proximity to me. They are excellent free-rangers. Mine were only out for a few hours in the afternoons but they love to get into a big pile of leaves and just go to town.
