Sick 2 day old peachick.....At a loss what to do.

Since they've all been wormed, ask you vet if your money would be better spent looking for protozoas like blackhead, coccidia and giardia. Or maybe the money would be better spent checking the samples for infection. I'm not an expert, just sharing what I have learned and experienced with mine. So far, all of my fecals have come negative, but I'm pretty sure false negatives are a possibility... Talk to your vet, keep us posted.

This is a copy and paste from the AAAP Avian Disease Manual They say once a day, but the other book says q12 or twice a day. I have not tried twice a day, but have thought about it and think it's probably not a bad idea.

TREATMENT
There is currently no approved medication for treatment of histomoniasis in food animals. Small
groups of birds not being raised for consumption can be effectively treated individually with metronidazole
at a dose of 30 mg/kg orally SID for 5 days. Antihelmentic treatment may help suppress the population of​

If you read back in the messages you can get all the background. But no none of the other peas are sick. None showed signs before we found them dead. Yes we may have missed it but I am self employed and home a lot so they are checked very regular by me and my husband....several times a day. The two hens that dies were in with a male. One did have mites which we treated all 4 and ground. Also there is no nasel discharge and no heavy breathing, or rattling in thier chests and no my male is not aggressive to them. He is one mellow boy. We have wormed all remaining peas with pancure. No said it was blackhead just said it was possible. I'm planning to collect fecal matter to have analyzed at vet on Monday. But so far everyone else is alive and appear normal

I did read your entire thread. I was asking if there was any signs it has been 4-5 days. As for mixing drugs if you do a search most of the big breeders will tell you NOT to. I am trying to help you find out what caused your adult peahens to die on you. Unfortunately I cannot come over to your house and look so I am going to ask questions and just need you to take a deep breath and answer them for me. Even if I ask the same question over again I am refering to today not yesterday. What happened 4 days ago was then and today is 4 days later and alot can change in 4 days.

You stated that you treated for mites can I ask what you used on both the birds and the ground (esp the ground)? So today, the last hen and peacock are fine?

Yoda, sorry if u thought I was being short with you. That was not my intention. As for what I dusted them with it was called viper insect dust it is safe for birds, horses, cattle, cats and dogs and for use on garden plants. The other two peas in the pin are still alive and seem to be doing well. As for mixing the pancure and metronidizole my vet says its fine to do both at same time. Even the breeder we bought them from said it was ok...and he is a repitable breeder. But I have not done the blackhead meds cause I just don't think that is what it is. I'm going to try and get a sample to the vet but have not been able to catch her poo. It needs to be fresh and I need to know it from my hen not my cock.

As for my peacocks all are great but the 2 that a slow eaters. I have a poo sample to take to my vet in the am when I drop my cat off to be spayed. Going to see what she says. One is very dehydrated and I am tubing it with pedalite. So far I'm keeping it alive. The other is taking a wet mash of egg, game bird crumbles, and the pedalite . I put it in a 3cc syringe and place a small amount in its mouth and it swallows it on its own. I'm planning to get IV lacte ringers tomorrow so I can get fluids in them with out tubing.
