Sick 4 week old white pekin duckling.

The first video looks like niacin deficiency. I added brewer's yeast to my pekins food when they were babies and it wasn't enough, sadly, I ended up with one that had splay leg and one who had her foot turn in slightly. The vitamin B complex works miracles - it gives a quick boost and can catch their body up. I used it for a couple months and that along with hobbles corrected my ducks issue. I don't have enough experience to say if the current problem is a progression of the deficiency or something else, but if it was me, I would get her on the liquid vitamin B ASAP. You can't overdose them, so if all the ducks get it they are fine. You want to make sure the one in need gets enough though, so if she will take it over treats, or you can put her in an area with a small water and food dish that has the vitamin added, that would be great. I think they say 1 ml is the dose (you can check this on the "sticky" topic about niacin deficiency at the top of the duck forum) but I just a teaspoon or so in a small water dish and dribbled over food once or twice a day to make sure enough was consumed. At this stage you probably don't want her having to walk that way much, so maybe making a special area for her where she can see the other ducks, but is close to her food and water, would be best for the time-being, at least during the day, so she doesn't hurt herself stumbling around. I kept my ducklings on the vitamin B for a couple of months, and still occasionally give them a little bit now and then. I think you would see an improvement in a week or two, to know whether it's working. I hope the best for your duck!
They are on mazuri duck food with added vitamin booster and brewers yeast plus greens daily. Only thing I havnt been doing is b12 but I did start that today. She has a min of 3 alone swims in the house. They still sleep indoors at night space just big enough for the 5 of them. During day they are in a small temporary pen till the permanent one is finished. She does not come out to roam with the others and we carry her to and from the pool and in or out of the house. She usually lays by the food and water. But will still get up and forage some should I not let her do that ? I tried to splint her but she hated it and refused to move at all.

@Isaac 0 - might have an opinion about splinting the duck's foot/leg. It seems like it might be okay to let her get up and forage if she wishes, as long as she's not hurting herself trying to keep up with the other ducks? You probably know best since you have eyes on her. I sure hope the vitamin B helps and she gets better!

Thank u. I did decide to put her in a separate smaller enclosure. Her foot keeps rolling under. She is really struggling. Hopefully a little rest swim therapy and the vitamins in a few days she will be doing better. Thank you.

You can make her a little shoe, take a plastic container cut part of it so it lays flat..like a cool whip or something similar place her foot on it and draw it out then cut it to fit, wrap in tape to protect her foot. Then lay her foot out flat on it and use vet wrap or some other type of tape that won't stick to her skin. Making sure not to cut off her circulation. Go up past the ankle a bit so she can't get it off. This will keep her foot in the right position and give her support. You'll need to take it off when she is in water but this will keep her foot from rolling under.

This is genius thank u. Ill will try this.

I was thinking about what you said about her hips looking wider. I don't know if this means some possible splay leg. That's where their legs go out to the side and it makes it hard for them to stand up. My duckling developed this when she was maybe 2-3 weeks old (I can't remember now!) and what I did was wrap her legs into proper position with vet wrap. I replaced the tape several times, but I kept them wrapped for a few weeks and as she had the vitamin B complex she grew stronger and they remained in proper position. You would have to have someone help you hold her up while you gently pull her legs into position with the vet wrap. Here is a video of my duck walking with her hobbles on after she'd worn them for awhile:

I will update in a couple days for sure. Thanks again so much for the info.
My tiki is doing some better. The boot i made helped. She is walking a bit better but still having trouble pulling legs up far enough to walk properly. The b12 had really helped alot. We are continuing all the treatments and splints. Hoping for more progress in the weeks to come. She is still trying to be active. Eats and drinks fine. And still doing swim therapy.
