I have a 5 week old potbelly pig who is bloated and in severe pain. No vet around here is open this time of night. She is trembling and sometimes her eyes roll back so i know she is hurting terrible. She is still on milk and also grower pellets. She has been bottle fed from day one, her other siblings all died. First time momma couldnt have cared less about the babies. She had powdered colostrum. 5 weeks old now. Had some diarrhea yesterday but i thought we had that under control and she was eating and drinking fine yesterday and this morning. And now this evening she is in very bad shape. Any suggestions?

It sounds like she is going into shock if she is trembling and her eyes are rolling. I would take her to the closest ER Vet ASAP before you lose her.

We dont have an emergency vet within an hour of us at least. Maybe further. And we are having vehicle trouble as well. The storm passed us by today but i feel like we have been hit with another kind of storm. I feel so bad for her!! I dont know what else i can do except hope and pray she makes it until morning and take her in first thing.

It was a little runny but not as bad as yesterday. Definitely not pebbly turds like she usually passes but more pasty than runny.

Could she have gotten into rat poison? The stretching sounds almost like strychnine poisoning. Is she extending front legs forward and back legs back, and arching her back? Would help if you could post pics. Hang on while I check for possible antidotes.

She has been in a cage or a kennel all her life. No possible way she got into any poison. Not arching her back. Laying down Kicking her back legs out and pushing her head against the side of the carrier i have her in right now.

Does sudden noises startle the animal into convulsions? If so, keep it in a quiet, darkened environment. Avoid strartling it as the convulsions are painful.

A wikipedia article suggests charcoal orally to adsorb the toxins, but I cannot get my phone to copy the web address.
