Sick and sleepy buff Orpington chick!

Thank you so much! And I'm guessing the vitamins say how much to put per gal/quart?

you can try couple drops on beak just watch nostril holes daily or 0.5 ml in the water some buttermilk or yogurt might also settle tummy ugh after thought

After thought about what?

And I gave Buffy and the other chicks the water, and I think it gave her a little boost! She ate food, preened a feather, scratched her face and even chased another chick for a strawberry a couple steps!! I'm going to go get the vitamins and will let you know how that works out!

Gave Buffy the ACV in her water and gave her a vitamin drop and she seems so much better already! She pooped a couple times, and has been eating and drinking! Still pretty tired but now she is moving more and preening herself again! I can't wait till she eats worms again!!! Thank you all so much! I don't know what I would do without BYC!!

I agree with ladyride. I got some chicks and the second day I noticed a little one having some issues. She was falling asleep all the time and I named her p.o. for Push Over because all the others were walking on her and pushing her around. I knew nothing about chickens but my mothers instinct kicked in and I kept making her drink sugar water and eat food that had been soaked in sugar water. After a few days of this she started to act a bit more like a chick. The only thing I notices was that she did not grow at the same rate as the others who are all the same breed and age. To this day she is still a bit smaller but acting normal.
Can't say for sure if she will lay yet. She's only 11 weeks old. Here's to hoping.

My thoughts are to try the sugar water and the vitamins to see if she gets better. The fact she is eating a bit on her own is good. If you want to separate her, I would put another chick in there as well. Providing you are sure she is my sick.
Best of luck to you and keep us updated.

But the weird thing is, she was perfectly fine! For 4 whole weeks! And then she got a little weird! I'll be sure to keep you guys updated on little Buffy

Yay! Buffy is doing so much better! She was the first one to fly out of the coop this morning and was eating and drinking on her own! This is day 2 of the vitamins and AVC water, and I think this is going to work!

Buffy is still more sleepy than the others, and obviously sick, but I think she will make it!

That's wonderful!
I recently had a chick die after a few days. He was getting extremely sleepy and wouldn't eat. We kept him with the others but put another heat lamp on him. The poor thing died that night.
