I am in a real puzzle right now. I bought a 2 pairs of birds from a different breeders(1 month ago) and I quarantined both pairs with separate cages (clean) with fresh food and water everyday. The spoiled birds also had a heat lamp too. I noticed one of the hens wasn't doing to well so I put them on teramyicin for about 4 days. She got a little bit more lively and then a week later she died. We took her up to the Frederick "place" where they can do autopsy's on the birds the say she died of liver disease (there was a minor trace of a upper respiratory infection) . But she was sneezing a good amount. And was never 100%. Her mate was always 100%. But now he's is not doing to well .He is isolated as always was. I have three coops. One houses strictly standards. One houses my bantams(but it is split in half for broilers). And the new coop has my other healthy pair. But now is where I am puzzled. My bantams and broilers are sneezing and having unhealthy poop. (not 100%) They have had no contact what so ever with the sick pair. I'm am so pose to get birds from a breeder this Saturday. The broilers are gone by next Tues and I was planning to mix my healthy pair with my bantams but they my bantams are questionably sick with my broilers. I'm also not sure what to do about this SQ rooster I have . He is also questionable. I was going to give him to a 4-h er but I just cant do that in my consciences. The rooster is sterile so Im, not so sad to sell him at the stockyard. So what is your opinion on what I should do with the bantys and broilers? and this little rooster? If I were to medicate them what should I put them on and where can I get it? I will quarentine the new birds as much as I can.
