I have a 10 mo. old Americana .suddenly yesterday morning when I let the chickens out I heard a thud as if a chick jumping off a perch when she came out she staggered holding her self up by a wing so she didn't fall over .then the other wing she she didn't fall the other way. I separated her immediately from my little flock. Roo and other hen are both fine. I gave her food and treated water with supplements .she has fruit and some veggies .this morning she was in her makeshift rubber made house .She layed an egg 😭 for me. still chordling. Is hungry, drank water ate treats is bright eyed and alert. I worried about Marek's, I got her from a farm nearby at 5 mo old.
But the other symptoms don't line up. They eat nutrena crumbles and 5 grain scratch. Fruit veggies pasta .live in an enclosed run too and bottom. What is going on. Any ideas?? Please.😢

Our chicken stripe had the exact same problem! She fell of the roost a couldn't balance. Every time she took a step she fell flat on her face. We separated her from the flock in our garage, and gave her a shot of rooster booster. We left her for a day, and she was running around and squawking! It turns out she had a vitamin deficiency, and yours might have the same problem. I would give her a shot of rooster booster and wait a day for improvement.

Sorry about your hen. :hugs

What are the supplements you gave her? I'd be giving her B-Complex. If you have some of those, she could have 1/4 of one of them per day. Those B vitamins help her muscles she might have injured.

As long as she's eating her crumbles, I'd slow down a little bit on the scratch as that has little nutrients in it. You'll want her to eat more of her nutritional feed.

Could you ask the farm where you got her if any of their chickens are experiencing problems, just in case?
