Hi everyone, I am a new chick momma and have 3 around 5 weeks old. I went out to change their water and give them more feed yesterday evening and noticed that one has a little bit of clear drainage from the nostral and had sneezed. One of the others was "chattering" her beak. Several days ago I noticed what looked like loose stool but since I'm new to this I wasn't sure. I googled causes but thought I would ask here as well. Are my babies sick or is it something else I am missing or not doing?

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!! :frow

I'm sorry about your sick chicks. Will you please post this in our Emergency Forum as they need help ASAP.

In the meantime, if you don't have any chick vitamins, I'd pick some up and put in their water. We use Poultry Cell which is one of the best but Nutradrench is faster for these.

Are they still on chick starter/grower?

Welcome to BYC! We're glad to have you here. If you see more suspicious poop, feel free to take photos and post them in this forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures.10/. If your chicks are outdoors, one of the most common illnesses to watch out for is coccidiosis. It's treatable, but requires acting fast. Here's a good resource on coccidiosis: https://poultrydvm.com/condition/coccidiosis

Chickens are also suscesptible to a variety of respiratory illnesses that could explain the other symptoms you described. Are they sneezing frequently or was it a one-off?

Yes they are still the grower. And thank you for the info on the vitamins. Didn't witness/hear any sneezing this morning and nostral looks fine. Did not see the chatter this morning either but I also was not out there for very long.

Welcome to BYC. I'd keep a close eye on them. Watch for lethargic behavior, not eating, and huddling with fluffed feathers.
What is your weather like? Have you offered any electrolytes? (Always have fresh plain water available too, when providing electrolytes. )
Are there other fowl around? Have there been other fowl on the premises in the past?
Also when you post in the ER section provide photos of the chick(s), and their poop. State their age, their diet, and any symptoms that you've noticed.
