I noticed a week or two ago one of my 6 week old RIRs was "passing" wet smelly poops... the response I got when I asked what could be wrong was..." aren't all poops smelly? " and nothing else.. hers is VERY smelly.. I still don't know what's wrong and it's been over a week.. as far as I can tell it hasn't spread to the other 6 chicks. the poop doesn't have any white caps on it and is just a brown wet puddle... if anyone knows what could be wrong maybe I could sleep better. but for now Im thinking of separating her from the other chicks so it doesn't spread, but I've been very worried that this might have a negative effect on her. has anyone ever separated a chick from her flock? what should I expect?

are all her droppings brown and smelly or just some? if its just some it could be cecal droppings.about every 10 or so are brown and smelly but if its all the time it doesn't seem right. what is she eating? has her food changed? i looked up brown smelly droppings in my health book for chickens and maybe start her on probotics. a good powered probotics like probios. the probotics in the gut should help return her droppings to a more normal state! probotics help fight bad bacteria and replace it with good bacteria. when my birds had bad loose stool i used this and in a couple days they were back to normal. you can put it in the water. it should help. is she acting normal other than the loose droppings? if yes i think the probiotic will really help. i hope this was helpful. good luck

very helpful! as far as I can tell, it's always wet and smelly.. I saw probiotics at the tractor store near me... do you think it will negatively effect the other chickens if they all drink the same water? thank you very much for the response. she's only 6 weeks old and I feed them all the same thing, unmedicated chick feed. rarely i will give them grapes, or scrambled eggs.. but it hasn't effected any of the others.
