I have 4 Barred Plymouth Rock chicks. They just turned 3 weeks old. Last week, I noticed one of the chicks having symptoms of coccidiosis (was weak, not eating, and diarrhea). I treated all the birds with Corid for 5 days. After the first day of medication, all the birds appeared more energic, they were eating and happy. Today (which is the first day off the Corid), 3 of the chicks look great, very happy and active. But one chick is lethargic, head drooping, not eating or drinking, and had stringy clear-whiteish diarrhea. Nothing that I do seems to make her more alert. I separated the one sick chick from the others so I can closely monitor. What should I do?

Welcome to the site, I’m so sorry to hear about your sick chick. How is she this evening? How are the rest?

How is the sick chicks crop? It should be empty and flat first thing in the morning. Can you drip a few drops of sugar water on the outside top of her beak so it rolls into the crevice where her top and bottom beak meets and she can drink the drops in? You can also try gently dipping her beak in to get her to drink. Try some egg yolk, too, she might drink some if that.

I've read sometimes a second course of Corid is needed. So it could be that or it could be they just might benefit from medicated feed. I would put the affected ones on Corid, separating them. And then reevaluate and possibly source medicated feed.
