I have a chicken who was bit by a cat a week ago, gave tylan for 3 days per instructed and she seemed to be doing well. Still laying, eating and drinking. However it got cold here Saturday and this morning i noticed she sounds growly when breathing, refuses to leave the hen house and has some clear discharge from her nose. I gave her another dose of tylan and called around to see if anyone has penicillin or amoxicillin but no one does. However i did find oxytetracycline injections at tractor supply. Should i try it or just continue with the tylan?

Omg my baby chicks got attacked by a cat and they are having respitory issues on top of that. I use the oxytetracycline, but I don’t inject it. I made bigger hole and put a dropper into it and put some into a nebulizer. they breathe in that for 10 minutes 2x a day. If you know how much it give your chicken by needle and you know where, I would say do it. It has been such a help for my chickens especially with the cat and all the nasty germs they have. Good luck!

Is the wound infected? Do you have a picture? Have you had any respiratory disease in your flock before.
It does not look infected to me but ill grab some pictures in a few minutes. I only have 2 chickens and have never had any sickness until now :/

The wound looks clean. I use chlorhexidene to clean it, and put plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment on it twice a day. Tylan is probably better than tetracycline for a respiratory disease, and I give 1/4 ml per pound orally 3 times a day for 5 days if using Tylan 50.

I have tylan 50 injectable. Ive been giving her 1ml per day shes about 6lbs. Should i give more?

I would give 1.5 ml orally (instead of injecting) slowly, allowing her to swallow after a few drops 3 times a day.
One more question lol she hasn't eatin today, i did give her some water but she wont take food out of my hand at the moment. Any suggestions?
