Gone out this morning to feed the girls and let them out for the day and one of my chickens is lethargic, feathers rustled and eyes closing. The others ran for their breakfast and she didn't move. Not sure what do to - have given her some water via a syringe and she drank that but don't know what else to do for her.

Have to go to work soon for a couple for hours but advice for when i get back would be brill. Should i get some diarrolyte and give her some and if so how much should she have?

Quite new to having chickens and any advice would be brilliant.

Thanks

She is an exbattery hen layer Rhode Island Red x Warren. Had them since October and touch wood they have been really healthy. We have had some very cold weather recently not sure if that has anything to do with it.

If there are no respiratory illness signs, then I think I would be checking to see if she has a stuck egg. If not, I would separate her, and treat her for coccidioisis, and make sure she eats and drinks. That's where I'd start.

Here's a link, https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=276360 Maybe symptoms like this? I would post some more info, I think there's a link at the top that has the questions you should try to answer so someone could help you more.

Thanks for the link - she doesn't have any blood in her poo and the poo is normal consistency and looking. I will worm them but not sure whether to do it if she is poorly.

Hopefully just a stuck egg. WIll keep an eye on her and see what she is like when i get back from work.

Have googled her symptoms and not come up with a great deal at the mo but will keep looking.

Thanks for all your help.
