Sick chicken- what would you do?

Scenario that I really need opinions on because I’m so beyond frustrated-
Day 1- One of your chickens starts acting kind of....slow. Nothing big but something is off. Maybe the weather?
Day 2- Still slow and vanishes for part of the day but it’s been pouring all day so all the chickens have been hunkered down.
Day 3- she doesn’t leave the coop. Eyes are clear. Just lethargic so you separate her from the flock and medicate.
Day 4- Still lethargic but now you can hear a slight rasp to her breath and a little gunk in her mouth. Eyes are still clear and she’s alert enough to get irritated when you Medicate.
Day 5- you wake up to a dead chicken.
Please please please tell me what you would have done in this situation? Medicine used?
I’m so beyond frustrated and just want to sell them all because after so long of having them maybe I just still have NO idea what I’m doing.

I gave her Tylan 50.

Is there something else I should have given her? I’d like to know for next time.

I might treat the flock with acidified copper sulfate in the water. I understand it treats the entire GI tract for various issues, beak to vent.

The main reason I suggested that is the gunk in her mouth. If you lose another, necropsy would be a good idea. So sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. The bottom line is that when you lose a chicken to something, if you refrigerate the body, you can get a necropsy performed by the state vet to find the case. Here is a link with a list of state vets:
