Hi,
I have been reading through a lot of the threads here and have found that others have experienced similar symptoms, but not necessarily all that my poor girls is. I noticed that she had a 'fluffy' butt and was walking a little funny a few weeks ago. Gradually, her comb became more pale and floppy. Yesterday I noticed that she had poo running down the back of her. Today, she left a very watery, yellowish poo on my porch. She hangs back from the others, is a little slow going, but when you throw some corn on the cob out into the yard, she certainly keeps up with the rest of the girls. She appears to be eating and drinking. I also noticed that she is sleeping on the ground in the coop at night, not getting up to the higher shelves.
Not sure if she is egg bound or has egg yolk peritonitis?
None of the other hens (8) have symptoms. They get high quality feed and clean water. There bedding is cleaned every few days. It is difficult to know who is laying and who is not.
Any recommendations?
Not sure if a vet visit is in order, as it sounds like many hens with similar symptoms did not make it anyway... Should I quarantine her or let her live a normal life as long as possible?
Thanks for the help, in advance!
