Sick Chicken

I have a chicken that has a prolapsed rectum and is bleeding anally. Tonight she started throwing up a clear liquid. The medical treatments that I read about on line are not working.

I am thinking that I need to cull the hen.

Thoughts?

Sorry your are having trouble with on of your hens.
Prolapse is not fun to deal with.

Can you post any pictures? Was she pecked by the other chickens before you found her? Damage can happen with pecking, and sometimes pecking itself can make it look like a prolapse if there is cannibalism. By all means if she seems to be suffering, it would be right to put her down. Some hens can recover with treatment, while others have damage to the vent tissue, or suffer a larger prolapse where the intestines come out. Let us know if we can help.
