What is going on with this guy? He seems fine and is running around doing his normal duties but this does not look good. It came on fairly quick this week. The other side of his face looks fine. We put some Vetericyn on it the last couple of days but i want to get this taken care of.

Thanks in advance
Robert

There is no cure. But iodine or Blue-kote on the lesions, except eyes, can help dry them up faster.

The danger is when the lesions form inside the throat and make it hard for the chicken to swallow. If that happens, tube feeding may be necessary for a few days.

There is a preventative vaccine available at online vet pharmacies.

I agree, it's Fowl Pox. Painting the lesions on the comb/wattles with Iodine or Blue Kote can help dry them up as suggested.

The eye looks to have lesions, so you'll want to dab that with some Terramycin eye ointment. If possible, get the eye open and remove any pus, it looks gunky. Gently rinse with saline and put the ointment in the eye.

Do try to be careful and not pick off the scabs, try not to disturb them too much this can cause spread.

Watch to see if he's eating/drinking o.k. Might be worth looking inside the beak just to make sure there's no lesions inside.

All on the tissue look to be Dry Form of Wet Pox at this time, usually this will resolve over the course of a few weeks. Once healed and recovered, he will have built resistance.
