Sick chicken?

One of my hens that just started laying had something that looked a lot like that come out of her. Are you sure it is a plastic bag? What came out of my chicken was basically an egg without a shell and the membrane around the egg looked like that. I saw another hen eating it and the insides of it. That strange looking white thing was what was left after they ate the insides. It looks and feels like plastic. Has she laid an egg yet?

I agree with giving her vitamins and hydration. Do separate her, though.

She has been laying for over 4 months now. I did not see anything else with it just that. The reason I was thinking plastic is because I have been giving them some tomato's and I had them in a plastic bag by the coop and they had free run of the yard.

Just get childrens vitamins, liquid version. Get them at Walmart or your local drug store. Poly-vi-sol is popular on here, but I just got a generic one for my girls. You can drop it in their water, or as the earlier poster said, you can put a drop or two on her beak and she will swallow it that way. It seems to work pretty well. They generally respond pretty fast if it is a vitamin issue. Have you seen her poop anything else since the red one?

I am a little stumped about her. Do you think she could have Cocci? Corid will treat it if it is Cocci, but you need to act pretty quick. If you treat one, you treat them all.

What is that? Where do I get some Corid? Will it hurt her if that is not what is wrong? Also should I still do the vitamins to?

CORID is a treatment for Cocci. You can get it at Tractor Supply, or some feed stores have it, too. It won't hurt to give it to your chickens if that isn't the issue. You can't eat the eggs for a certain amount of time.

I would still do the vitamin thing. Threehorses is a really good person for ailing chicken advice. I would PM her and ask her what she thinks it is and what her suggestions are for you. It's very valuable info!
