Sick Chicken

i have a five 4 month old chickens. when i came to let them out this morning i discovered a yellow watery coloured poo.


since letting them out of their night coop ive noticed one of the male chickens is just standing around with fluffed up feathers with no energy and just keeps closing its eyes and doesnt run or make a noise when i go to pick it up. i have since separated it from the others and noticed it's poos are a white colour and liquid occasionly comes from its mouth area. i couldn't quite see whether it came from the mouth or nose. any ideas on what it could?

that's not a very healthy looking poop. Here's a poop chart to compare. If that is blood in the poop you may be dealing with coccocidiosis , in that case you will need to get some corid/amprolium . I would also worm them.

Definitely worm them. Safeguard for goats works well, and has conversions for chickens online

Thank-you very much.. How long will it take for the medicine to work? or will i end up losing this chicken.

Also should i put the medicine in with the other chickens too or will it harm them?

Amprolium is added to the water over a period of a week then half dose for another week. If you get some buttermilk it will buy you some time till you get the meds. Where do you live?

we already have a bottle of Intradine from the vets that was left over from earlier this year when my first lot of chicks got coccidiosis. so i have just mixed the amount that the vet told us to and now will wait and see what happens. fingers crossed he gets better..

i have been out to the chicken this morning and noticed it poo is now a white liquid. and also when he was feeding out of my hand a clear liquid came out from his mouth. is this a sign that hes drinking too much? could it be that he has just got a cold? Thank You for the help.
