JOSHUA HICKMAN

Hi. I have 5 hens. They are 2 years old. 2 of the hens have a white, opaque substance they are eliminating from the vent. Looks like cooked egg white. Only one hen is now laying. Based on my investigation, they have either Thrush or Pullorum.
They are eating and behaving normally, and I am checking to see if they are egg-bound, but so far, I have not felt any hard eggs inside. I have taken these steps:
1. cleaned and removed all material from coop, replaced with fresh straw
2. clean the watering feeder daily using a drop of bleach
3. Provide second water source with unpasteurized apple cider vinegar
4. provide yogurt with feed mixed in (they love it!)
5. Gave them dust bath with anti-mite powder.
6. Used DE in the coop area

I read that if it is Thrush, I should give them Nystatin or other anti-fungal medication.
If Pullorum, I can try Amoxycillin, but most likely is that they may recover but be carriers.

What should I do with the eggs I am now collecting? If they are all infected, are the eggs safe?
If they start laying again, are the eggs safe after the waiting period?

THANK YOU!

i hope we do not get the chicken sickness.i love our chickens. there are so funny.

Hi
I am wondering what happened to your chicken? I also have a barred rock that has the same symptoms? Did you treat her or just let it run it's course? Thanks for letting me know.

She passed away but a friend said she may have been calcium deficient Terry some grit or oystershell right away. I tried worming checked for egg binding but nothing helped by the time I knew this could be it it was too late.
