Sick chickens

So I believe two of my chickens are sick. They are slothful, and have diarrhea. It’s been cold and damp the last 2-4 weeks. White crusty feather around their butt. Combs are bright red but I notice they are slower than normal. It just got done raining about 3 inches the last two days.

is it worms? Or just under the weather?

What do you normally feed?
Is feed and water stations cleaned daily?
Photos of poop on the ground?

If possible, take some samples of poop to your vet for testing - have them check for Coccidia and worms.

You can also use a mail order service or your state lab can do testing - see links below.

If none of this is doable in a time like this. Then worming may be something to consider.
Tractor Supply or a similar store carries Safeguard Liquid Goat Wormer (Fenbendazole). Dosage is 0.23ml per pound of weight given orally 5 days in a row.

Since it's rainy and wet - make sure there's no moldy or wet feed left around. Water stations rinsed and cleaned daily as well. If the water is getting soiled, then consider placing it on a block, some bricks, etc. - get it up off the ground so it will stay cleaner.

Check your birds really well for lice and mites. It would be a good idea to clean off their bums as well.

Food is normally dry but since the rain it has turned to moist. I clean the bowl daily. The yellow chicken does seem to eat more than the rest. She also feels heavier but I don’t know if that’s a breed thing or if she is over eating. The RIR the last poop I saw was diarrhea.

I will also clean her bum. She is clean. I gave a good once over for mites.

I would make sure their crop is empty by morning.

Has any of the feed spilled or splashed out and gotten moldy on the ground? Feed molds really quickly.

The green to me is a bit concerning although I see grass mixed it - it's not really digested/ground up. Do they have grit?

Ok well I did feed grass to them yesterday for the first time in 3-4 weeks from the front yard. It was clean, no fungicide, herbicide, insecticide. I haven’t had a lot of grit but I did give them yesterday with grass. I’ve been out of the country for a couple weeks so I’m coming home to this. I put ACV with garlic oregano water out with a separate clean water Incase they don’t like it. To help. I also bought some Corvid and nutridrentch coming on Wednesday by mail. For just in case

As a side note they are eating the garlic in the water. I chopped it up. I figured they would spit it out and avoid it.

I lay eighty percent odds thats gleep . Reasons. It looks like it. Humidity a factor. Fermented food . Cut away the feathers and clean it up . Need to do that anyway or spray back of butt with livestock spray or you risk maggots. Saw it once and never wanna see it again. Horrible. Look at the active ingredients in most cattle .bird spray. Always permycrn spelled wrong. Its good plant. Be mindful you can get it to. Last couple days i have itching everywhere. What works best for me is vicks vapor rub. Using lotrimin on chickens. Twice a day but keeps coming back. But early. Two hof my flock have red butts and i raced around trying to cure the usual stuff and was almost glad when i got it cuz at least i had answer. Lol. I almost hope it is for you cuz such an easy cure when compared to other stuff. If not you got nothing to lose.hard to cover everyarea of every chicken with expensive spray. Afraid im not eradicating it properly.good luck. Interested in your research
