1) What type of bird , age and weight.: 4 chicks, about 8 weeks old
2)What is the behavior, exactly: One of the chicks is fluffed up, sneezing, watery eyes, and "pumps" her neck. She keeps stretching her neck out as she opens her mouth. Her breathing is not raspy. She hasn't grown in two weeks. She has moments where she walks around, but mostly sits under the heat lamp. One of the other chicks now has watery eyes too (so watery that they are bubbly) and is sneezing. The other two seem fine.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Two weeks.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? Only two of the chicks.
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. Not sure. The chicks have had no contact with my other birds, but were housed with adults at the place where I got them from.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Yes, eating and drinking normally.
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. A bit runny.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Superbooster for 7 days.
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Self treatment. Will cull if needed.
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. No
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use: Large livestock rubbermaid tank, with pine shavings. Heat lamp on one end, waterer and feed in the centre. Feeding growth food at present time. Had them started on medicated chick starter.
